About LRF
LRF is, roughly said, an organization directed by members of the community for the members of the community. It is a sort of local mediator between the individual and corporate donators on one side, and the non-profit organizations on the other. It operates mainly with money, time, talent, and ideas. Their flexibility and personalized services enable the donators to determine by themselves how, where, and in what time frame their money should be spent.
LRF is slovene name for COMMUNITY FOUNDATION!
LRF are independent philanthropic organizations. They collect, direct, and distribute the donations that they receive from a high number of mostly local donators. The main goal of the foundation is the improvement of the quality of life in a specific geographical area, usually towns and communes (counties, provinces; depending on the regional divisions of an individual country). The foundations aim for this goal by including local residents, and distributing funds, as well as establishing partnerships with local companies, local authorities, and non-profit organizations. The foundations are permanent and long-ranged mainly due to the means that they receive from different donators, which they spend in charity (financial support of local non-profit organizations to reinforce the non-government sector on the local level, assignment of scholarships to indigent youths, aim to accelerate the development of a local community, etc.). The foundation's permanent funds are an assurance to the donators that their financial contribution will have long-term effects on the community. It is possible to establish, within the foundation, narrower funds that are constituted from the funds that were intended from the donators for an exactly determined purpose (so called 'limited funds').
